CCU National K9 Certification is a set of minimum K9 standards established to test the reliability of a Police K9 team, Security Working Dog Team, or other K9 Team that must maintain an established standard of control and reliability. This certification sets a minimum standard that complements deployment standards rather than contradicts them.
Bylaws are established based on Police K9 case law, industry standards, and the extensive experience of the police k9 professionals that consult on behalf of reliability of the certification bylaws. Each K9 Team (dog and handler) is evaluated based on the active bylaws at the time of testing and based on a pass/fail basis.
Since 2011 CCU National K9 Certification has proven reliability for over 450 K9 teams worldwide. K9 teams working under this K9 cert have been challenged in Federal, State, and Local courts across the United States for over ten years without any cases lost due to these certification standards.
CCU National K9 Certification allows K9 Teams trained in the following areas to attempt certification:
- Obedience
- Drug Detection
- Explosives Detection
- Tracking
- Article Search
- Patrol
