K9 Trainer
K9 Handler
U.S. Army Veteran
Brandon Martin, a dedicated K9 trainer, holds a profound appreciation for the CCU family, which welcomed him with open arms after completing the Full Service Trainer Course. It was within this supportive community that he found a sense of belonging and purpose, building on his passion for working with veterans and law enforcement. As a six-year Army veteran with two deployments to Afghanistan under the 101st Airborne Division, Brandon’s journey began in Ocala, Florida, where he enlisted at 19, cultivating a deep-rooted sense of discipline and camaraderie. Alongside his wife Ashley and their four daughters, he brings his experience and commitment to his work, shaping both canines and their handlers with precision and care.
Brandon Martin's Accolades
Handler Course
Just completed the Tracking/Narcotics detection course with Brandon as the instructor.
Brandon was extremely knowledgeable and really took the time to ensure our training was efficient and productive as possible. Even utilizing some of his contacts to get us real world experience with local agencies. Highly recommend him and this training
Brandon was awesome
Brandon as a trainer was fantastic he was very patient while teaching me. I would highly recommend Brandon as a trainer not only for a K9 but also to any body. His knowledge is top tier when it comes to training K9
Recent Handler Graduate
I had recently graduated the full service trainer course and rolled into explosive detection and tracking. Brandon’s ability to convey complex training concepts including behavioral and psychological aspects of the canine profile into easy to absorb chunks made training at CCU extremely enjoyable. His love for dogs really shines through in his teaching. Overall a total stud, couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. I HIGHLY recommend him for any k9 training needs. He made sure Jake and I would be a strong, capable team ready for deployment.
Handler course
Brandon has always been great to work with throughout every course I have attended at CCU. He is very knowledgeable patient with k9’s and clients.
Civilians dog training and kennel boarding
CCU made such a difference with my dog. The trainers are nice and always ready to help. The 6 wks dog training made my disobedient dog into an obedient dog. So happy with their service. Definitely recommend.
High Quality
A rare find to work with a trainer who has strength-based skills, versatility, and provides meaningful reflection.
Brandon reads the level of his clients’ knowledge, depth of understanding, and awareness to meet them where they are and take their K9 team to the next level.
Training was purposeful with flexibility to adjust as needed to enhance outcomes.
It is a pleasure to work with a truly dedicated professional.
Ammo's Trainer Brandon
Brandon has done an excellent job with Ammo. Ammo’s obedience has
improved greatly. Brandon has also been a great help my wife and I, taking
time to teach about handling our dog as well. Great job Brandon & CCU.
An amazing learning experience
I graduated from the Kennel Master Course a few months ago with Debra as my instructor, she was patient and answered all of my questions in a way that I could understand, she is very knowledgeable when it comes to anything related to the kennel operations, injuries, feeding schedule to increase, decrease, or maintain weight for the K9s. It was a real pleasure to work and learn from Debra and pick her brain about anything and everything related to Kennel operations. Madison and Mary were extremely helpful, and professional and taught me a lot as well. I have applied some of the things I learned in my own house and with my clients with great success.
Recently graduated from the Full Service Trainer Course.
Brandon and Szymon gave me a better understanding of how MWD and Police K9s are trained, different methods of training, and the science behind everything that goes into training the K9 for particular purposes. We were able to see the entire process of training a police K9 from start to finish and get certified.
This course will test your patience, and test you mentally but if you listen, observe, ask questions, and keep an open mind, the amount of information and learning possibilities are endless and invaluable.
It didn’t matter if we were doing the bite suit, imprinting wall, tracking, obedience, or just in the classroom, Brandon and Szymon took the time to talk me through things I didn’t understand, what I did incorrectly, and what the second and third-order effects would be on the K9 as well as the handler. Nobody looked down on me for being a clicker trainer, retired from the military, or had an objection or suggestions to a few things but we figured out a different route and kept training.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you are a “force-free” or “positive-based” trainer, there is always something to learn, and even if you do not use some methods at least you will have them in your toolbox just in case. A true dog trainer should always continue to learn all sides of training and keep evolving to find the best way to train dogs.
Both courses were a wealth of knowledge that I use at home and with clients, the staff, and the instructors were great!
Subject Matter Expert
There was always something to learn, and It didn’t matter how much experience you had, whether it was years or none. Brandon would take the time to explain what we did right, what we did wrong, how it could affect the K9s (mentally and physically) if performed improperly, and how it could injure the decoy or other handler and understand that there are more ways to train a dog. Brandon never talked down to me or other students or treated us differently because of our years in service in law enforcement or the military. Brandon’s adaptability to certain situations and how some dogs behave shows he knows what he is doing and cares about the dog’s safety. The thing I respect most about Brandon is that he doesn’t think he knows it all and is always looking to learn more about dogs, their psychology, and how to train, he would ask one of the other trainers if he didn’t have a concrete answer and get back to us. Brandon and I had multiple conversations about how I train Service Dogs if nothing more than to understand a different perspective and see if he could learn something new himself. That is the sign of a great trainer!!!!
The way he explained how the K9 olfactory system, traits, drives work, and different methods to motivate the K9s to work and alert, I have a better understanding and I am better prepared to continue training Service Dogs for Veterans, Law Enforcement, and First Responders who are having a difficult time after their service.
